5 easy to moderate miles
A new history hike in and around Leesport. We will see canal locks 36, 37 and 38, the new river bridge now under construction, the lock tenders house, and other local sights. The hike is on both trails and area roads, with only one significant hill.
Meeting place: 9:30 am, Leesport Pool parking lot, 24 Washington Street
Directions: From Reading, take 61 north, make a left onto Cross Keys
Road, then right onto Grange Road (follow the Wall St. detour signs) which becomes Main Street in West Leesport. Where the road bends to the left at the railroad tracks, go straight staying on Main Street. Cross the railroad tracks and Washington Street will be the second street on your right (last street before the river). Turn right onto Washington Street and look for the pool about one-tenth of a mile on your right, just before the library.
