Membership in the BCHC is $10.00 per person per year in order to receive the quarterly newsletter. Further information on membership can be obtained when attending a scheduled hike. Other subgroups within the BCHC are the "Thursday Wanderers." Most hikes are followed by a dinner stop. We call ourselves "The Eating Club with a Hiking Disorder"! ****Hiking and Trail Guidelines: ** Be courteous & stay behind the leader unless directed otherwise.** Offer $.10/mile to driver when carpooling. * *In the event of inclement weather, the hike may be canceled.** Please leave your pets at home.**If unable to keep a club commitment, please find a replacement. * Wear blaze orange during hunting season (Sept 1 to last day of Feb). * Appropriate footwear and attire should match the type of hike.** If you leave the hike early, notify the hike leader or ask someone to do that for you.** Bring water and food as the hike description and weather demand.* * Hiking involves risk. Come out prepared and know your capabilities. Each hiker is responsible for their own safety and well-being.

Saturday June 14, 2008 - Philadelphia Historical Tour and Train Ride

Approx. 5 mile city walk

Enjoy a train ride from the Norristown Elm St. Station into the “City of Brotherly Love” with an enjoyable walking tour of a city rich in American history. We’ll tour some interesting sites of Old City, Center City and nearby neighborhoods in the morning. Break for lunch near famous Headhouse Square and spend the afternoon at South Street to check out “where all the hippies meet”. Dress in comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes for walking on pavements. Rain or Shine! So bring rain gear if weather forecast drops!
COST: $10.00 round trip Septa train ride (price subject to rate increase) day of trip. Discounted round trip $8.25 by notifying hike leader by May 15. Discounted participants must pay leader for advance ticket since trip will not be canceled. Driving directions to the train station, maps of Philadelphia and the train schedules will be provided on the day of trip.

Meeting place: 7:00 am, Boscov’s East parking lot (east end of lot), Business Rt. 422 East in Exeter
where we will carpool to the Norristown Elm St. train station.

Lancaster Central Park - May 31, 2008

6 to 8 miles

Follow Kay through a wooded area along the beautiful Mill Creek. Walk across a covered bridge, traverse a portion of the Conestoga Trail and view the Lancaster Valley from Indian Rock. This park abounds in history.

Meeting place: 9:00 am at Ollie's parking lot (closed Giant and A.C. Moore) intersection of Business Routes 222 and 724 on Lancaster Ave. in Shillington.

Kutztown Area Country Roads - Saturday May 24, 2008

5.5 miles

This is a circular hike on several rural, macadam, and gravel roads and passing by farms and wooded areas. This hike includes some hills. Optional lunch stop at the Kutztown Tavern.

Meeting place: 9:00 am at the Kutztown Shopping Center on Constitution Blvd. near CVS.

Directions: Route 222 North, take Krumsville Exit Route 737, at end of exit ramp turn left onto Constitution Blvd. Go straight at traffice light to Kutztown Shopping Center on the right.
